Urban design / Area transformation

Spoorzone Bilthoven

Spoorzone Bilthoven · Netherlands

A recognisable spatial direction brought housing, public space and the station together while allowing alternatives to be tested.

Green urban design study for the Bilthoven station area
Area vision and urban design · KuiperCompagnons team

The design question

How can an outdated business area around a station become a mixed neighbourhood, while addressing mobility, noise, phasing and different land interests?

My contribution

I worked with the team on the area vision, urban plan and quality framework. I developed design alternatives, layouts, typology studies, spatial rules and participation material, translating responses into the emerging framework.

The value

A recognisable spatial direction brought housing, public space and the station together while allowing alternatives to be tested.
